Welcome to ‘block.
BLOCK ISLAND is a mystery-thriller that follows FAYE (60s), a widow whose successful late-husband’s untimely death has left her buried in debt. Our story finds her as a newly-licensed real estate agent who’s thrown herself headlong into work with hopes of a debt-free existence. But the houses she’s representing are lackluster at best and despite her best efforts she’s falling short.
Late at night while fixing up one of her listings Faye gets a mysterious visitor... CHERYL (40s) offers Faye the exclusive sale to a beautiful estate on Block Island. Cheryl’s mother recently passed away and she inherited the house, however she has no desire to keep it nor return to the island having “escaped” for college and never looked back. She’s so motivated in fact that she needs Faye to go out tomorrow to take photos and get the listing together. Cheryl shows Faye photos and Faye can’t believe her luck – the house is absolutely gorgeous and an estate sale like this could be exactly what she needs...
Faye journeys to the Island to find the property is even more stunning in person. She gets to work – cleans off years of dust, packs up the accumulated junk and clears the space out to be photographed.
But the next morning she finds everything put back exactly as it was.
Is someone playing a trick on her? Or, even more unbelievable, is there a ghost?... She checks into the local Inn where the owner reveals that Cheryl’s mom isn’t actually dead - just missing.
Faye immediately confronts Cheryl who explains that her Mom is “missing and presumed dead”. And that the death certificate is on its way from the State. She even has a Life Insurance Investigator (HENRY, 50s) coming out to the island to do his own investigation. She assures Faye all is above board and warns her to beware of island gossip.
But Faye can’t help her suspicions; could Cheryl’s mother still be alive? Or, stranger yet, is it her spirit haunting the estate? Each time Faye readies the house to photograph the same thing happens – everything she moves, moves back.
She decides the only way forward is through. So, joined by Henry, she sets out in search of the truth. But the secrets hidden in these walls are much stranger than they ever could have imagined. And Faye might learn why everyone on the island calls that house “The Widow’s Walk”.
